Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working with NBC News in Washington D.C. she is a TV anchor. She graduated with an Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing up in New York City. In 1967 Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976, she joined the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV located in Washington DC (then WTOP). Then, she became a Washington general reporter with NBC News two years later. The year 1980 marked the beginning of her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the main congressional reporter. Then, in 1992 she was named Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell was the host and panelist for the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the 1988 debates among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for excellence in journalism. In 2004, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's very first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. The time span covered the two Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell covered a range of noteworthy stories including weapons control, the budget tax reform as well as the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell went on numerous trips with the President Reagan for summits alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
